Cerrillos, New Mexico 87010Dear Mr. Lockridge:
This is in response to your request to establish one typical section through the project 11' lanes, and 4' shoulders.
In order to maintain a context sensitive approach to the final constructed roadway, and through engineering judgment the overall safety of this route would not be detrimentally compromised, it was determined to have one consistent typical section throughout the NM 14 project of 11' lanes, and 4' shoulders.
In essence this will result in a reduction of pavement of 2' throughout the s-curve portion of the project.
This is in keeping with the Department's guiding principal of Environmental Responsibility to be flexible, and sensitive to the overall environmental aesthetic value this project will have on NM 14, and the communities of Cerrillos and Madrid. The Department is in the process of working with Twin Mountain Construction, the NM 14 Contractor on this change in the project.
Should you have any questions or need additional information on this matter, please feel free to contact my office at (505) 827-9511.
Sincerely,
John McElroy, P.E.
